Designed as a premier private athletic club, the West Vancouver Squash & Racquetball Club was conceived as a modern recreational destination that combined competitive sports facilities with welcoming social and gathering spaces. The project integrates athletic performance, member amenities, and architectural design into a cohesive community-focused environment.
The two-story steel and concrete facility features eight squash and racquetball courts, spectator viewing areas, lounge and dining facilities, fitness and support spaces, and underground parking to maximize the site's usable open space. The building's layered massing, landscaped courtyards, and generous glazing create an inviting atmosphere while organizing the various recreational and social functions into a logical, efficient layout.
Developed while with Toews Architects, the project reflects Lex George's early experience designing complex institutional and recreational facilities where user experience, circulation, and functionality were central to the architectural solution.
