Government Office Center

Government Office Center

Nanaimo, British Columbia

Government & Institutional Office Building
30,000 SF • Completed 1994

Designed for a private developer, the Government Office Center was created to provide secure, efficient office space for provincial government agencies, including the Ministry of Social Services as its primary tenant. The three-story facility balances functionality, security, and long-term durability while creating a professional environment for both employees and the public.

The 30,000-square-foot steel and concrete building features flexible office layouts, controlled public access, and a clean architectural expression that reflects the needs of a modern government workplace. Careful planning addressed circulation, tenant security, and operational efficiency while creating a building designed to serve multiple government departments over its lifetime.

Completed in 1994, the project demonstrates Lex George's ability to deliver institutional architecture that combines practical performance with timeless commercial design. The result is a durable civic building that continues to serve the community through adaptable and efficient office space.
