Cocoa Beach Pier Renovation Study

Cocoa Beach Pier Renovation Study

Cocoa Beach, Florida

Concept Renovation Study • Hospitality & Entertainment
Client: Paradise Resorts
Completed: June 2013

Originally built in 1962, the Cocoa Beach Pier has long been one of Florida's most recognizable waterfront landmarks. This renovation study explored ways to modernize the historic pier while preserving its character and strengthening its role as a destination for visitors and the local community.

The concept introduced a contemporary restaurant and entertainment venue with expansive ocean views, upgraded dining spaces, enhanced circulation, and refreshed architectural elements inspired by Florida's coastal vernacular. Exposed structural framing, generous glazing, and an open-air atmosphere were designed to maximize natural light and create a seamless connection between the interior spaces and the Atlantic Ocean.

Beyond aesthetic improvements, the study focused on enhancing the guest experience by creating flexible gathering spaces, improving operational efficiency, and positioning the pier as a vibrant destination for dining, entertainment, and special events.

Although the renovation remained a conceptual study, it demonstrates Lex George's ability to thoughtfully reimagine existing structures while respecting their history, identity, and relationship to the surrounding environment.
