4,400 Square Foot Custom Home • Completed 1988
Designed as a speculative custom residence, the Bourque Road Residence reflects Lex George's early exploration of contemporary residential architecture and his commitment to creating bright, open living environments that connect seamlessly with their natural surroundings. Serving as both designer and project manager throughout construction, Lex oversaw the project from initial concept through final completion, ensuring that the architectural vision was carried through every stage of the build.
The 4,400-square-foot home is organized around dramatic double-height living spaces illuminated by expansive skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interiors with natural light. Open sightlines, carefully proportioned gathering spaces, and thoughtfully integrated architectural details create a home that feels both spacious and welcoming. Warm wood finishes, custom millwork, and sculptural ceiling forms add character while reinforcing the clean, modern aesthetic.
Completed in 1988, the Bourque Road Residence represents one of Lex George's earliest fully realized residential commissions and established many of the design principles that would continue throughout his career: abundant natural light, functional planning, timeless detailing, and architecture that responds gracefully to both its occupants and its landscape.
