Private Residence Concept • Designed 2009
Conceived as Lex George's own family residence, this custom home was designed for a wooded site in West Melbourne, Florida. The project served as both a personal design exercise and a showcase of the architectural principles that have defined Lex's career: abundant natural light, open living spaces, thoughtful circulation, and a strong connection between architecture and its natural surroundings.
The residence features soaring volumes, dramatic skylit spaces, expansive glazing, and carefully framed views that blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. The floor plan balances generous public gathering areas with private family spaces, while clean architectural forms and warm natural materials create a timeless contemporary aesthetic. Every aspect of the design was intended to maximize comfort, daylight, and the experience of living within the landscape.
Although the project was placed on hold following the 2008–2009 economic recession and was never constructed, it remains one of Lex George's most personal architectural studies. The design reflects decades of residential experience distilled into a home created not for a client, but for his own family—a vision of how thoughtful architecture can enrich everyday life.
